Fraud and Corruption Prevention
As part of the NSW public sector, the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is committed to upholding its core values of integrity, trust, service and accountability.
We are committed to an honest and ethical environment that prevents and minimises fraud and corruption. Fraud and corruption are incompatible with our values and present a risk to the achievement of our objectives and the provision of services to the public.
Fraud refers to dishonestly obtaining a benefit, or causing a loss, by deception or other means.
Corruption, in broad terms, is a deliberate, serious wrongdoing that involves dishonest conduct, a breach of public trust or the misuse of information or material.
DCJ has a zero-tolerance approach to fraud and corruption. Everyone has a role to play in reporting all instances of suspected fraud and/or corruption.
Channels for reporting fraud and corruption
There are five channels for reporting suspected fraud and corruption matters.
Please note that for anything unrelated to fraud or corruption such as complaints, comments, feedback or queries in relation to the service delivery of DCJ services, please register these using the Feedback Assist widget located on the right hand side of the Department’s websites at: https://www.dcj.nsw.gov.au/home
24 x 7 Fraud and Corruption Hotline - reporting channels
The Hotline has been established to receive suspected fraud or corruption reports via an external independent provider (Core Integrity). The Hotline supports anonymous reporting while still allowing the investigator to seek further information from the anonymous reporter via a secure web-based system (i.e. the anonymous reporter cannot be identified). This allows the reporter to participate and track a matter to its investigation and resolution while maintaining the reporter’s anonymity.
