Understanding roles and responsibilities in the sector

Child wellbeing and safety is everyone’s responsibility, which means everyone works together to keep children safe and well.

Local Government

NSW Local Governments support organisations to respond to needs at a local level through a range of activities and services including:

  • community and neighbourhood centres where people can meet and access resources
  • services and projects targeting particular groups such as men, women and cultural groups.

Councils and libraries have a key role in creating safe harbours that promote child wellbeing and keeping children safe.
