Illawarra Shoalhaven Homeless Youth Assistance Program (HYAP)
The Illawarra Shoalhaven HYAP (operating as Southern NSW Homeless Youth Assistance Program) provides service to unaccompanied children and young people ages 12 – 15 years old who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.
It provides crisis and transitional accommodation, early intervention and family support. Other services include support in educational and training, mental health, drug and alcohol and counselling.
This service offers case management to reconnect the young person with family/relatives/ support networks or assist in transition to independent living/sustainable care arrangements This service also works with different agencies to prevent the young person becoming homeless and to help preserve families.
This service delivers culturally appropriate and safe services when supporting Aboriginal or culturally and linguistically diverse persons.
