Inverell and Glen Innes Homelessness Support Service

The Inverell and Glen Innes Homelessness Support Service supports young people, women, men, and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including women (with or without children) affected by domestic and family violence, young parents, and young people leaving care or other institutions.

This service supports people in the Glen Innes Severn and Inverell Local Government Areas(LGAs) as well as Armidale Regional, Tenterfield, Uralla and Walcha LGA’s, Deepwater, Emmaville, Drake, Red Range, Wallangarra, Ashford and Gilgai.

Other services include prevention and early intervention, rapid rehousing, crisis and transition responses. The Service identify clients who are at risk of homelessness and support them to remain safely in their existing housing, or where appropriate use a range of approaches to assist clients (with or without accompanying children) to secure and sustain safe and stable housing.

A key focus of this service is to ensure clients and/or their children will also be supported to access, maintain or re-enter education, training and/or employment.

This service will identify hot spots where people are sleeping rough and undertake assertive outreach to link them with appropriate support services, including accommodation, health services and income support as appropriate.

The service has a strong focus on responses for Aboriginal young people, women, men and families, and is accessible to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. It also provides 24/7 Domestic Violence Response Enhancement (DVRE) to strength their after-hours responses to women in crisis.
