Kempsey Homelessness Support Service for Women
The Kempsey Homelessness Support Service for Women supports women with or without and children who are experiencing domestic and/or family violence who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. While the priority group is women with children experiencing domestic and family violence, it also supports single women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
It provides supported crisis accommodation and transition support with or without accommodation, and intensive responses for women and children with complex needs. It also supports women who have a disability, mental illness and those who have alcohol and drug misuse issues.
The service delivers prevention, early intervention, and rapid re-housing, and has specific strategies to ensure Aboriginal women receive culturally appropriate responses that meet their needs.
This service has a strong focus supporting Aboriginal women and women from culturally and linguistically diverse background. It also provides Domestic Violence Response Enhancement (DVRE) to strength their after-hours responses to women in crisis.
