Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer & Other Identities Youth Homelessness Project
This service provides responses for young people under the age of 25 years who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or queer (LGBTIQ+), who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. It supports young people to engage with family, and education and training, and helps to prevent the escalation of issues leading to homelessness.
This service also provides support with regard to mental health issues, alcohol and other drug misuse, recent release from juvenile/correctional centres, leaving out-of-home care, gambling addiction issues, sexual health issues, and those involved in sex work.
It delivers prevention and early intervention, supported transitional accommodation to secure long term accommodation, rapid rehousing and intensive responses for complex needs. It also provides programs to increase independent living skills and support people’s tenancies through an outreach case management.
This service has a strong focus to Aboriginal young people and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
