Newcastle Youth Homelessness Support Service
This service operating as Samaritans Newcastle Youth Homelessness Support Service, supports young people ages 16 – 24 years old who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It provides client-centred homelessness support, including prevention and early intervention, rapid rehousing, crisis and transitional accommodation, and intensive responses for young people with complex needs.
It identifies those who are at imminent risk of homelessness and support them to remain safely in their existing housing, or where appropriate use a range of approaches to assist young people to secure and sustain safe and stable housing.
Young people will also be supported by intensive case management to address the issues that have led them to becoming homeless. A key focus of this service is to ensure young people will be supported to access, maintain or re-enter education, training and/or employment.
Priority client groups for this service include young people leaving care or institutions, Aboriginal young people, and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
This service provides 24/7 staffing in crisis accommodation.
