Northern Sydney District - Youth Homelessness Project

This service operating as The Burdekin Association, supports young people under 24 years, and/or their parents to prevents young people from becoming homeless. It covers the Local Government Areas of Hornsby and Northern Beaches.

It provides prevention and early intervention program and outreach services to support young people and/or their parents where the young person is experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. It aims to support young people to remain at home with their families.

It provides case management, information and referrals and work with young people to connect them to their communities. It also provides supported accommodation supporting young people living in transitional housing to become independent and access housing, education, employment options.

Post-crisis support is also provided to young people who are living independently and who require support to sustain secure accommodation and/pr remain engaged with education, access employment and connect with community.

This service has a strong focus in supporting Aboriginal young people and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
