South Eastern Sydney Homeless Youth Assistance Service - Eastern Suburbs
This service operating as Caretakers Cottage supports children and young people ages 12 – 15 years old who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless in the South Eastern Sydney district.
It provides prevention and early intervention, case management, crisis/short term accommodation and post-crisis support. Its supports young people who have experienced family breakdown, domestic or family violence, have or are experiencing trauma, may be disengaged from education, have been involved in alcohol and other drug misuse, have experienced mental health issues, are at risk of being involved in criminal activity and/or may have been involved in the juvenile justice system and leaving Out-of-Home Care.
Children and young people will be supported to continue or access education, employment and training options. The Service will ensure that intensive and integrated support with specialist services such as mental health, drug and alcohol or trauma counselling is facilitated with their clients.
This service has a strong focus on Aboriginal children and young people and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
