Sydney District Boarding House Outreach Service

This service operating as Boarding House Outreach Services, provides direct and indirect support to people living in boarding houses, people experiencing homelessness who have recently left a boarding house (within the last three months); and to people who are exiting or have recently exited institutional care or custody and live in a boarding house.

It covers the Burwood, Canada Bay, Canterbury-Bankstown, Inner West, Strathfield and Sydney Local Government Areas.

Its delivers early intervention to assist in preventing homelessness and provide intensive responses for people with complex needs. It also assists people to obtain appropriate accommodation and/or remain in their current tenancy.

This service provides support to occupants in boarding houses to address issues resulting from unsafe accommodation and / or tenure insecurity. This service also supports people who are experiencing homelessness due to exiting institutional care or having recently left a boarding house to obtain appropriate, safe, and affordable accommodation in a boarding house.

It provides post crisis support, as well as an outreach based, person-centred case management model.

This service will also assist who are experiencing mental health issues, have disabilities, are experiencing domestic and family violence, are involved in alcohol and other drug misuse. It has a strong focus on responses for Aboriginal people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
