Sydney District West Family Homelessness Support Service
The service operating as WAGEC Women & Women with Children, provides safe and supported crisis and transitional accommodation for families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It also provides safe houses for women with children who are escaping domestic and family violence and helps them to be rapidly re-housed in private rental or social housing.
It intervenes early to prevent homelessness and provide support to families at risk of becoming homeless through a short-term case management, information and referral and safety planning. It also provides post-crisis support, brokerage, crisis and transitional accommodation to families experiencing homelessness and support to secure and sustain long-term accommodation.
This service has a strong focus on responses for Aboriginal women and women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. It provides Domestic Violence Response Enhancement (DVRE) to strength their afterhours responses to women in crisis.
