Upper Hunter Homelessness Support Service
The service supports young people, men, women and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including women (with or without children) affected by domestic and family violence.
It covers the Muswellbrook, Singleton and Upper Hunter Shire Local Government Areas.
It’s client-centred homelessness support, including prevention and early intervention, rapid rehousing, crisis and transitional accommodation, outreach support, and intensive responses for people with complex needs.
This service will identify clients who are at risk of homelessness and support them to remain safely in their existing housing, or where appropriate use a range of approaches to assist the to secure and sustain safe and stable housing. Once accommodation has been secures, post-crisis support is provided to assist client to maintain the accommodation.
Another key focus of this service is to ensure clients and/or their children will be supported to access, maintain or re-enter education, training and/or employment. It will have collaborative arrangement with specialist support services (such as domestic and family violence services, education, training and employment, mental health, drug and alcohol services) to facilitate access for clients with complex needs.
This service has a strong focus on responses for Aboriginal young people, women, men and families, and is accessible to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. It provides Domestic Violence Response Enhancement (DVRE) to strength their after-hours responses to women in crisis.
