Aboriginal Mentoring Program
DCJ Housing runs a Mentoring Program aimed specifically at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff. The Mentoring Program opens up opportunities for the participant through the development of a career plan that helps the individual to grow both personally and professionally.
The program also includes tailored training to assist with skills and knowledge development, so that participants can become a role model for others. The program is available to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.
Aims of The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mentoring Program are to:
- retain more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff who work for DCJ Housing
- increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff in senior positions with DCJ Housing
- strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff’s skills, knowledge, and relationships within DCJ Housing
- provide a tool to assist and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff to cope with the numerous and unique challenges of their job
- support individual goal setting and career advancement.
